Magical Moments
So I'm just going to cut to the chase about this one. I didn't make it into entertainment at Disney. Instead I was put into quick service food and beverage. At first--and if I'm being honest--I was ashamed of where I was. In my eyes it would have been better to have been a custodian than do what I was doing. When people asked me what I was doing in Disney, I'd tell them I was a cast member. Then simply let them guess I was something better than what I really was.
Also, it made it worse that my roommates were in entertainment. I am beyond happy for them and never was jealous, but it made me feel as though my job was even less important.
So my first week of training was a terrible nightmare that I was sure I would wake up from. The work was so hard and gross. I was upset and begged God to get me out of this. It wasn't until my roommate told me that she was believing God would put her where he needed her most that I realized how utterly selfish I was being.
During the next week I began to make peace with my job. I accepted where I was, and suddenly it didn't seem as bad. People were friendly and welcomed me to their family.
I don't get to be friends with Mickey or Minnie or even a princess. It was a hard fact to face, but the thing about Disney, the magic doesn't just come from the shows. It comes from the sense of community that is made with the cast members and shared with the guest. I get to be the one giving away magical moments to adorable little children. I get to give them memories that they will cherish for years. Hearing a little girl tell her dad today that it "was the best and most magical day ever" was a gift enough for me.

Hi everyone! I have to admit it took me a while to want to post my blogs. People looking into my head can be a quite daunting idea. But I'm now in Disney, and not many people get this chance. I thought I might share my experiences with you. I hope you enjoy!
So we're going to fast forward a bit to my first few days in Disney. I'll write the back stories of how I ended up here later, I promise. :)I guess now I should give a warning to those reading this. If I'm going to write this, then I'm going to be as truthful as possible while keeping the Disney Magic.
Anyone ever hear of the song "I have confidence" from the Sound of Music? Well that's been my go-to song lately. And in case you haven't...
"Oh, I must stop these doubts, all this worries....The courage to serve them with reliance. Face my mistakes without defiance. Show them I'm worthy. And while I show them, I'll show me.......So let them bring on all their problems. I'll do better than my best. I have confidence they'll put me to the test. But I'll make them see I have confidence in me"
So as some as you know, I recently moved to Orlando for a semester. I didn't know anyone, where I would be working, or what I would be doing. Just that I would get to be in Disney. If you didn't figure it out yet, I love Disney. So much.
My first few days have been great! My roommates are awesome--all 5 of them, and I personally think I have the best apartment. Everything is so magical. We could go to the parks for free, and explore. It's my first time on my own, and that makes it even more exciting. I 'm officially a Cast Member!
